Assemble the standard pack now
Nearly every scheme — public, donor-funded or bank-linked — asks for a similar core set of documents. Prepare them once and keep them updated so a two-week window is enough time.
- CAC registration for the farm or agribusiness
- BVN and a business bank account in the farm's name
- Proof of land access: title, lease or community attestation
- Twelve months of production and sales records
- A one-page farm profile and a simple cash-flow projection
Records are the differentiator
Assessors need evidence that money entering the farm will be tracked. Consistent records of inputs, yields and sales do more for an application than an impressive plot with nothing written down.
Digital records help here: dated entries, receipts and harvest logs are easier to present than a memory of last season.
Match the scheme to your stage
Youth and women-focused programmes, commodity-specific interventions and value-addition funds all have different eligibility ceilings. Applying to a scheme designed for processors when you sell raw produce wastes a cycle.
Read the eligibility clause first and only then decide whether the application is worth your week.
Watch the deadlines deliberately
Windows are short and rarely re-opened. Keep a calendar of the schemes relevant to your commodity and set reminders two weeks before each closing date so documents can be refreshed in time.
